Remote control submarines
If you really want an exotic toy, you can't get much more unique and
interesting than a remote control submarine. These ships are unlike any other radio controlled vehicle on the market, and have special equipment
to match.
One of the key components of a remote control submarine is an automatic leveling control. This piece of equipment is what keeps the submarine at
a natural angle rather than tilting or yawing at an unnatural angle. You'll need one of these to ensure control and handling of your sub.
Another important part of a remote control submarine is the automatic depth control. This is what you use to determine how deep you want to go.
A good depth control will allow you to operate at periscope depth or simply push forward to dive. For proper use of an automatic depth control,
you need to have a leveling control installed as well.
The other key elements of a remote control submarine are the ballast tanks and the ballast pump. It used to be there were two types of ballast
tanks, one based on compressed gas and the other on water. With compressed gas, each time you release gas you also lighten the weight of the
submarine, so after a time you have to come up. With pump boats, you could dive by taking on water but there was no effective way to rise. With
the new hybrid systems that release compressed gas but trap it so that it is not expelled, you have technology closer to actual full sized subs
that will allow you to dive and surface without losing weight or gaining weight permanently for the run.
