Radio control trucks

If you enjoy racing radio control trucks, you probably hate having to put them away when bad weather hits. The good news is, it makes it all that more fun when you get to bring them out again. To ensure that you aren't disappointed when good weather comes around again, you want to prep your trucks for action when the sun starts to shine again.

Radio control trucks run best when they are clean and prepped and ready to go. If you try working on a dirty vehicle, you'll find that the dirt acts like little tiny gremlins, making your screwdriver slip and your parts stick. The best way to get your truck clean is to use an air compressor or canned air and do a rub down with denatured alcohol to get everything nice and clean again. WD40 also works well for getting in and cleaning out the gunk in the cracks when you blast it dry with air.

To really get radio control trucks ready for action, you'll need to dismantle them and do a thorough job of addressing each vital piece of equipment. You probably want to divide your labor up into tasks and tackle one area at a time rather than bite off more than you can chew by trying to prep and clean every piece in a single day. Planning ahead of time so you have a time window will let you break out the task over a few days or even a week or two before the weather starts getting really nice.

Finally you'll want to clean the engine and tune up the clutch a little. A toothbrush and some denatured alcohol will work well here. The clutch can be addressed with a file to take off the residue that builds up inside the clutch bell and the small deposits that can build up on aluminum shoes. If you aren't using aluminum shoes, you probably want to inspect with a close eye to see if your shoes need replacing. If you spread the word, radio control trucks everywhere will appreciate your care and attention.
