Gas powered remote control cars

Gas powered remote control cars come in all different sizes. This is partly because so many different vehicles are represented: you can find everything from Honda Civics to Sherman Tanks! But it's also because of the differences in scale.

Most all model gas powered remote control cars are built to some type of scale, meaning that they are designed to be a proportionately smaller replica of a life-size model. So if a corvette is built to 1/10th scale and the life-size car has a wheelbase of two meters, for example, the scale model will have a wheelbase of twenty centimeters.

The scales used for gas powered remote control cars can vary widely. As a general rule of thumb the smallest you will find is 1/12th scale, and the largest 1/4th scale. Obviously the bigger the scale model, the more expensive it will be due to more materials, larger engine, and more fuel requirements.

So what scale should you consider? That depends on how much you want to spend and how much performance you want. Larger gas powered remote control cars are definitely more expensive, but they are also usually heavier, more durable and longer lasting. If you just want to have some fun and aren't worried about power or breaking a part every now and then, you probably don't need a larger scale model. But if you take your hobby very seriously, you may be tempted by the larger, more powerful models.
